In the last blog, I introduced you to Ahab, one the seven spirits listed in my book I Am Finally Free: 7 Steps to Overcoming Emotional Bondage.  An Ahab spirit blocks a man from becoming finally free.

In this blog, I will dig deeper into understanding the behavior of a man gripped by an Ahab spirit.

Ahab was an Israelite.  Israelites were not to intermarry with idol worshippers.  Ahab married Jezebel (Baal) worshippers sacrificed children to Baal, an idol."And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee;thou shalt smite them and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them  Neither shalt thou make marriages with them,  thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son. For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods; so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you and destroy thee suddenly."  Deuteronomy 7:2-4

A man bound with an Ahab spirit, marries for position and prominence, not for love.  King Ahab should have married an Israelite but instead married a Sidonian daughter of a king which included political clout.  Jezebel's father had clout.  Ahab's seem to have a flare for attracting to themselves, women who have clout, fame, or money.

King Ahab left the things of God to his wife, Jezebel, and thus she led him into her pagan religion, instead of him leading her to follow the true and living God.  He followed Baal.  He knew he was committing a sin that would not only impact his position as king, but a man with an Ahab spirit live out his life believing the ends justify the means.

Yet, if confronted with his ill-mannered choices, an Ahab spirit denies that he has done anything wrong, and does not care if he has.  He will declare that he is a nice person and that his wife loves him and he loves her.  Someone with an Ahab spirit would rather make peace at any cost, even if it leads to making an unholy alliance or worshipping false idols.

AHAB'S CAN BE DELIVERED FROM THIS BEHAVIOR.  How?  The process will be in the next blog. #drpeggyelliott
